More about the Independent Goodwood Photographers Guild.
The Independent Goodwood Photographers Guild (IGPG) is a Facebook group page for people who photograph any Goodwood based events - Members Meeting, Festival of Speed, Revival, Breakfast Club, track days, Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC) meetings etc to share their memories, photos and knowledge in a spirit of friendship and encouragement. Be aware that this is a closed Facebook group and only members can post. Please make sure all photographs you post are your own and of course please be respectful and courteous to all other members, we can all make mistakes sometimes.
A brief History
2016 saw our first competition. With 23 entries from 10 entrants held in the Jackie Stewart Pavilion at the circuit.
Our second competition in 2017 with 180 entries from 39 entrants, held again in the Jackie Stewart Pavilion at the circuit. The competition was judged by world respected motor racing historian Doug Nye and Mick Walsh and Lord March.
The competition for 2018 attracted 59 entrants providing 366 entries. This time the competition exhibition was held at the Goodwood Hotel. Judges again were Doug Nye, Mick Walsh, The Duke of Richmond & Gordon. With sponsorship by London Camera Exchange and Border Digital Ltd with Canon cameras in attendance.
For 2019 and the 4th competition we received 397 entries from 61 entrants. The exhibition for 2019 was at Boxgrove Village Hall. Judges for this year were Le Mans driver Nick Minassian, Jeff Bloxham respected motor sport photographer, Alan Brewer from the GRRC and The Duke of Richmond & Gordon. With sponsorship from London Camera Exchange, Border Digital Ltd. and Sony cameras in attendance.
Now for 2020 we have had 452 photographs entered 55 up on 2019, these come from 69 entrants. Judging has yet to take place. We can say the The Competition Exhibition exhibition will be this year at The South Downs Centre in Midhurst on the 23rd February. Again with sponsorship from London Camera Exchange - Chichester, Border Digital Ltd and with Sony Cameras in attendance.
A few reminders, updates and directions.
Competition 2019/20 – Rules, Classes and Entry Form were available in the ‘Files’ section on the Facebook page. Entry to the competition has now closed and the Exhibition will be on the 23rd February at The South Downs Centre in Midhurst more details on the Exhibition page.
For new members to the group (and others!) can we point you at the group description to remind you of the aims and objectives of the group. Please remember only Goodwood related photographs are allowed.
When inviting friends to be members of the Group, please make sure you ask them to answer the questions as well. The questions do need to be responded to gain membership of the Group.
We have a separate ‘IGPG – The Photography Group’ (This is another Facebook group) visit the group and click on ’Join Group’ and being an IGPG member you will automatically be accepted. This group is to discuss photography, again please read the group description before posting.
If you use Instagram then use the hashtags #igpg or #igpg2018 on your Goodwood photographs.
In the new year once we have the competition and exhibition out of the way we are planning some social events and Photography workshops.
The events section of this page will be used to keep you posted of interesting events at Goodwood and elsewhere.
Clothing and stickers
We have a limited number of car stickers and lapel badges available - both have the IGPG logo on them similar to the logo at the top of the page.

We have arranged with Lavant Workwear in Midhurst to produce clothing with
IGPG logo on. If you go to their website you can see all the items of clothing you can have the logo
added to. Fleeces, sweatshirts, polo shirts, caps a very wide range indeed.
A further £6 (plus VAT) has to be added to the price quoted on the website to have the logo embroidered onto the chosen garment.
Lavant Workwear will also undertake personalisation as well, with the differing requirements we would advise you speak to Lavant Workwear direct. They are very helpful!
